Bulk photo tagging and keywording for big folders

More photos than time to keyword them? EyeSay tags every photo in a folder with everyday words, finds any photo by description and sorts the folder into your own categories — about €3 for 10,000 photos, with the first 1,000 free every month.

How it works

  1. Send a folderConnect EyeSay once to Claude Code or Codex and ask “use EyeSay to tag the photos in ~/Pictures/shoot”. One command sends the whole folder straight to EyeSay, never through the chat, typically 5 to 8 photos a second.
  2. Every photo taggedEveryday words for the objects, places and activities in each photo; tags the AI is unsure about are marked as suggestions. You get the most frequent tags and a CSV or JSON file with every photo’s tags.
  3. Find any photo by descriptionType what you remember — “wedding rings on a table”, “red umbrella in the rain” — and get the closest matches first, without sending the folder again.
  4. Sort into your categoriesName them — “portraits, landscapes, details” — and each photo is copied into EyeSay/<category>/ in your folder, with a CSV of file and category. Your originals are never moved, renamed or deleted.

To connect Claude Code: claude mcp add --transport http eyesay https://eyesay.app/mcp, then sign in with /mcp. Codex and the other assistants are in the docs. Results are kept for 24 hours; running the command again sends only what is missing.

Keywords in the words people search with

Tags are the words you would type to find a photo again, not a catalogue taxonomy. The CSV has one row per file: its name, a fingerprint of the file, the sure tags and the suggestions. Categories are whatever you name: nothing to train, and a new one works at once. The tags can also be exported as XMP sidecar files, one per photo next to the original, which Lightroom, Bridge and other catalogues that read XMP sidecars take as keywords (how). For a single photo, Describe writes one sentence you can use as alt text.

Good enough to sort and search a large library, not perfect: it reads and answers in English and is weakest on small text in a photo.

Price

A free account tags 1,000 photos every month. After that, tagging or sorting costs €0.30 per 1,000 photos, so 10,000 photos come to about €3. Units are bought in packs that are paid once and never expire:

€10about 33,000 photos tagged
€40about 140,000 photos tagged
€150about 550,000 photos tagged

All prices and limits. A photo sent in a folder job counts once, as one tagged photo, for its tags and search data together; the same photo sent again does not count.

Questions

Are my photos stored or used for training?

No. A photo is held in memory only while it is being answered and is never written to disk. A folder job keeps each photo’s answer — its tags, search data, a fingerprint of the file and its name — in memory for 24 hours, never the photo itself; photos on the upload page stay in memory for 30 minutes at most. Nothing you send is used to train models or for advertising. The details are in the privacy policy.

Which photo formats work?

JPEG, PNG and HEIC, the iPhone’s own format. A folder job also sends WebP.

How many photos can I send at once?

A whole folder: one folder job takes up to 10,000 photos, and you can start another for more. The upload page takes 300 photos in a batch, and in Claude or ChatGPT the assistant sends up to 20 photos per call and goes on with the rest.

How is it priced?

By what is done with each photo, in units of €0.0001: tags or a sort are 3 units, a search vector 1, a description 9. A free account has 3,000 units every month, which is 1,000 tagged photos. Tagging 10,000 photos uses 30,000 units, about €3. Packs of €10, €40 and €150 are paid once and never expire.

Does it work with Claude and ChatGPT?

Yes. Add https://eyesay.app/mcp as a custom connector in Claude, or as an app in developer mode in ChatGPT, and sign in with your EyeSay account. Claude Code and Codex can send a whole folder.

Do I have to move my photos into another app?

No. EyeSay works on photos wherever they are — a folder on your computer, a chat with your assistant, or your own code — and does not keep them. It sorts them into categories you name and gives you the tags as a CSV or JSON file.

Photos are not kept. Each photo is looked at in memory and dropped once the answer is sent. Nothing you send is used to train models or for advertising.
